Do you love interior design books as much as I do?

Like seriously, love them?

My Favorite 15 Design Books

If I could, I would collect them by the dozen.

I mean, I love Pinterest and all but there is something about turning pages, touching the pages.

So here I give you 15 of my favorites.  This is Part I, because how could I limit my favorites to such a low number?

I’m sharing a design book that I was published in because, obviously, it’s my favorite favorite!

If you love the bohemian style, you will love the collection of artists, bloggers and other creatives,  sharing their creative style.  Twenty homes are featured, as well as galleries, offices, restaurants and other establishments that have the best commercial fitouts in brisbane Australia.  This book may be brand new but it already becoming a favorite for many.

Windsor Smith shows off her glamorous, modern, yet comfortable style in her first book.  She makes amazing interiors look completely effortless.

Windsor Smith Homefront: Design for Modern Living

Popular blogger Myquillyn Smith, of The Nest, writes a lovely and powerful book teaching us to see more than design in our spaces, to see our home, a place to live and love.  Her encouragement to see the beauty in chaotic lives is quite uplifting.  Her motto of “Perfection is Overrated” is one we could all probably stand to keep in the back of our minds.

The Nesting Place: It Doesn’t Have to be Perfect to be Beautiful

Oh have mercy, how I love this book.  The art, the strong color, the style of Hunt Slomen is phenomenal.   Showcasing his two Southern mansions, you will find his work delightful, mysterious and intriguing all at once.

When Art Meets Design

The first book of the work of Jean-Louis Deniot does not disappoint.  One of my absolute all-time favorite designers, his work is incredibly elegant, mixing classic antiques with modern furnishings, but never stuffy or overly formal.  His clean and edited style speaks to my design heart.

Any book that showcases the work of Alexa Hampton will be in my collection quicker than you can say “gorgeous interior design”.  The daughter of interior design legend Mark Hampton, Alexa traveled the world with her father, training her design eye.  In her first book, we see just how incredible her design eye really is.

Who doesn’t love Kelly Wearstler?  Her sense of style, her use of color, her pure brazen and bold aesthetic.  Of her all of her books, Hue is my favorite.  Kelly’s Beverly Hills own home is included as well as many other residential projects and hotel interiors.

Jonathan Adler’s quirky style is not the only thing you will enjoy from this book.  It’s a self help of sorts in typical light and happy Adler style.  This book really does provide 100 ways to happy chic your life!

Katie Ridder’s Rooms is over 200 pages packed full of gorgeousness.  Color abounds with a polished mix of vintage and modern.  Katie’s work is a feast for the eyes and inspiration is found on every page.

Katie Ridder Rooms

Dubbed the “decorating daredevil” by Domino and consistently listed as one of House Beautiful’s Top 100 Designers, Mary McDonald has quite the fan base.  Her work is timeless and classic, with a slight twist of fun.   Her style is elegant, yet livable.

Mary McDonald Interiors: The Allure of Style

Absolute drool-worthiness is how I refer to this book.  MLB’s global mix and strong use of color is coveted by celebrities and design lovers across the world.  This inspiring book is a true must have if you love color, layers and texture.

Live, Love and Decorate

Barry Dixon has to be one of the most talented designers of our time.  His attention to detail, his balance of color and texture, the combination of pattern.  I could go on and on.  In Inspirations, Mr. Dixon shares many design nuggets that you can use in your own home.  You will not only find him inspirational but eloquent as well.  Mr Dixon’s vision and design eye is like no other.

Susanna Salk really put together an amazing book.  There are some crazy cool projects within these pages.  Works from Jonathan Adler, Mary McDonald, Alesandra Branca, Jamie Drake, Steven Gambrel, Tobi Fairley, Amanda Nisbet, Miles Redd AND LITTLE OLE ME!!!!

I’m on page 79 and 80, btw. I got a two page spread!!!!
